[Naples Edition] Bespoke Tailor's Struggles Vol. 8

On to Naples

However, you need to first make preparations for your trip.

Since the departure would be after I retired, I had to make all the arrangements myself.

I will do everything myself, including arranging my plane ticket to Italy, contacting the Kiton factory manager, and finding a place to live.

Finding a place to live was especially difficult.

I was unfamiliar with the area and certainly didn't know anyone in Naples, so I had to make a decision without seeing the property in person.

Naples has beautiful tourist areas and dangerous areas.

As usual, Arakawa couldn't afford to live in a nice area, so he searched the internet for a cheap house.

And so the area we chose was called Casoria.

It seems that the security situation is not good, but it's not too bad either.

(The red frame is the area. Beautiful Naples is by the sea.)

The journey begins

The day of departure has arrived.

All preparations are done in advance!

Arakawa's long-distance flight journey begins.

The start is at Narita Airport. Head to the North Wing

The flight is via Russia.

Aeroflot: A flight with many stories

Apparently the aircraft was a hand-me-down from the Soviet military and the pilot was a former soldier.

This was my first time using it so I was a little excited.

Is it true that one of the rumors, "applause breaks out when the plane lands"?

...Because many of the pilots are former air force pilots, it is rumored that takeoff and landing are very smooth. Apparently, all the passengers applaud the pilots' skill.

Let's board the plane to find out the truth!!!

The inside of the plane looked like this

" It has a touch screen and you can plug in a USB. It's normal now, but at the time it felt like a step forward. "

"Lunch was Japanese style. I didn't like the taste of this sushi roll. The rest of the food was okay and edible."

"We had fried noodles for dinner."

After a 10-hour flight, we arrived at Moscow's Sheremetyevo International Airport.

"Because it was summer, there was no snow and the weather was nice."

And the truth behind the story I was curious about was...

There was applause on the plane after landing! The rumors were true!

By the way, this is just my amateur opinion, but I think the landing was quite good.

It was very smooth and there was no floating sensation.

"We traveled by bus..."

{Inside the airport. There are cafes and shops.}

Airport Map
"I will be staying at a hotel in the airport because I have 12 hours of transit time."
《The bed was small, but it was comfortable and helped me to relax after a long flight.》
"In the morning, I bought breakfast at the airport."
"On my next flight, I'll be taking my favorite Lay's sour cream flavor with me."

"Aeroflot again. This time the plane is smaller."

"It's small but bearable."

《This is the lunch meal. It was like stew.》
After a four-hour flight, we arrived safely at Rome's Fiumicino Airport. We had finally arrived in Italy.
《BENVENUTO A ROMA! 》

"We head to the airport by monorail?"

"We arrived at the airport. It was crowded with people."

"I found my favorite Lavazza. I felt like I was in Italy."

"I had three hours until my next flight, so I went exploring to kill time. I found Zegna."

《Fill your stomach here before boarding》

"It's finally the last flight. It's past 9 p.m. We get on a packed bus and head to the plane."

"Boarding Alitalia."

This is what the inside of an Alitalia plane looks like.

Two hours later, we arrived safely at Naples Capodichino International Airport. It had been a really long journey to get here.

"The shops in the airport were closed because we arrived at 11pm."

"At the very last moment, will my luggage come out safely?"

"My luggage arrived safely! I'll wait here for my landlord."

There were a few delays, so the flight ended up being 18 hours!

Including transit time, it took more than a day to arrive. This is the fate of low-cost airlines.

Anyway, I'm relieved to have arrived safely in Naples.

We arrived in the middle of the night, but after contacting the landlord, he came to pick us up.

Living in Naples

We rented a shared house in Naples, and besides Arakawa, I had Italian and Irish roommates.

Since Arakawa was hardly ever home, we only spoke to each other to say hello, but they were good housemates.

"Around the house"

"When I actually started living there, I found it to have a dangerous atmosphere, and I was a little scared at first."

"There was a shop nearby. This is a cheap and delicious bakery."

"This is a butcher shop. I've come here a few times to buy ham. Apparently everyone who lives in the area comes here to buy their ham."

After a while, the first Irish resident moved out and an Israeli woman moved in.

One night, while I was spending the night in my room as usual, I suddenly heard screams and loud noises from inside the house. I was confused by the strange presence when the police arrived!

Apparently, this Israeli woman had gotten into a fight with her boyfriend, pulled out a knife, and started to act violently. I was shocked when the police suddenly got involved. Apparently, the cause of the fight was that her boyfriend had stolen some money...

During the commotion, Arakawa stayed quiet in his room. I heard he had a knife, so I was a little scared that he might get caught up in it and get stabbed.

Local children were often seen playing near the share house where Arakawa lived.

Japanese people are rare here, and at first I was mistaken for a Chinese person, but when I introduced myself as Japonese, for some reason they asked me to shake hands. Since then, we've become good friends and shake hands every time we meet.

《Arakawa's room. If someone finds out where he is staying, local girls sometimes call him through the window in the upper left of the photo.》

《Common space. One day, the water in the bathroom didn't drain properly and overflowed, flooding the kitchen floor.》

"The landlord was very kind to Arakawa. While Arakawa was away, a clown-shaped hanger rack had been installed without his knowledge."

My life in Naples was very fulfilling. Although there were some scary incidents, most of the local people were kind and I was able to spend enjoyable days there.
