[London Edition] The Struggle of a Bespoke Tailor ②
What made you choose this university?
Although the title says I am a bespoke tailor, I actually did not originally aim to become a tailor.

Learning in the same place as someone you admire.
I believed that this was the first step towards my dream.
There were other reasons as well.In most art schools in Japan, the main focus was on how to make things and learn technical skills. As Arakawa, I wanted to study design and concepts mainly, so I thought that this was the ideal university because it emphasized that.
Come on, entrance exam!
The content of the university entrance examination was an English test (IELTS score of 6.5 or higher required) and drawing work. The study of painting that I quietly learned by myself when I was a student...
The subject was a drawing.
To tell the truth, I had never seriously drawn a sketch until I took this exam (laughs).
However, I can't afford to give up here, so I drew it with all my might.
The result of studying desperately for many years toward my dream is...

University life in the land of longing begins.
University life in London
Now, the longed-for student life in England has begun.
There were two other Japanese students in the same department at the university, so at first, the three of us often went shopping and looked around townscapes, enjoying a foreign land.
For a while, I lived in the same student dormitory as my Japanese friends, but the rent was expensive! (At the time, it was 250 yen per pound.)
In order to earn money, I started working as a bartender at a Japanese restaurant within two weeks of coming to England, but it was a tough life.
The military funds that my parents had given me at the beginning were almost completely gone due to university admission funds.Since there was nothing I could do without money, I quit living in the dormitory three months after entering the school.bethnal greenmoved to
The Bethnal Green house was a flat share with 5 people living together.
It was a multi-ethnic house of Italians, Egyptians, Poles, French and Mexicans.
It was a long way from home to the university, so I bought a £20 used bike at the market and used it to commute.
I was living desperately trying not to spend money as much as possible, steadily starting with small things.
It was a hectic day, studying at the university from the morning, working part-time until late at night, and going back to my room to sleep.
I think the reason why I still enjoy these days is because I was able to do what I wanted to do towards my dreams.

The aforementioned £20 used bike purchased from the market.Actually, after that, the front wheel was stolen, and I had no choice but to become a part of the creation of the work in class.London is quite unsafe and bicycles are often stolen.I'm glad I only needed the front wheel.

《Personally, I like the street names in London because they are cool.》
